Groove width should not be too wide, especially in the static seal; if there is pressure pulse in the static seal, the groove width is too large will make the O-ring in the groove with the pressure changes and "swimming", resulting in O-ring rapid wear failure.
Groove depth design and selection, we must first consider the O-ring material properties, and then consider the impact of changes in temperature. It is necessary to ensure a certain amount of pre-compression deformation, but also to prevent over-compression of the O-ring loses its elasticity. As a general rule, the amount of pre-compression after the O-ring is installed does not exceed 15% -30% of the amount of compression.
Select the appropriate sealing structure, should be based on the sealing medium, the use of environment and reliability requirements; attention to groove size tolerances and processing quality, due to some manufacturers and users of static O-ring sealing principle lack of groove processing quality is Neglect.
